Terms of Use
Updated 27 October 2026 · Version tos-2026-10-27
This version adds one paragraph to section 9: ticking the sign-up box also gives your explicit consent to DUDA using any religion or beliefs answers you choose to give. It changes nothing else. If you create an account from 27 October 2026, this version is what you agree to. If you created your account before 27 October 2026, this version applies to you from 26 November 2026. Until then, version tos-2026-10-24 stays in force for your account, or the earlier version that version tos-2026-10-24 names for your account, on the dates it gives.
These Terms govern your use of the DUDA app and the services behind it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal data. It is a separate notice, not part of this agreement.
1. Who we are, and what DUDA is
DUDA is a place to discover people and plans. It suggests people it computes as compatible with you, and helps you decide who to meet. DUDA is not a party to any meetup, date, message, or agreement between users.
In the app you can do a few different things. Explore suggests people once a day from your questionnaire, your preferences and your profile, and you decide who to meet. Nearby, while you have it on, lets people around the same place see you at an approximate spot. A Plan is a place and a time you post, for the audience you choose. A Move is an invitation to meet someone you can see in Nearby. Sync is a personal link and QR code you can share, and revoke. Chat is where a conversation goes once you have both connected. DUDA provides that place. It does not attend the meetup, carry the conversation for you, or join any agreement you make with someone else.
- Provider: Duda Matchmaker LLC
- Registered address: Leo Kiacheli Street N15, Apartment N3, Mtatsminda District, Tbilisi, Georgia
- Company number: 404811502 (Georgian Public Registry)
- General and legal: support@dudamatchmaker.com
- Privacy: privacy@dudamatchmaker.com
These Terms are offered in English. DUDA launches first in the United Kingdom and the European Union.
2. Who may use DUDA
You must be 18 or older. You attest to this when you sign up, and we store that attestation. When you later give your date of birth, we recompute your age and reject the profile if you are under 18. If that date of birth contradicts an attestation you already made, we record a security audit event before rejecting.
You also confirm that you are legally permitted to use a dating service where you live, that you are using DUDA for yourself, and that you have not previously been removed from DUDA for breaking these Terms.
One person, one account. Do not share yours, and do not create a second one to evade a block, a suspension or a removal.
3. Your account
You can sign in with an email address and password, or with Apple or Google. Facebook sign-in is not available yet. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for what happens under your account.
Some changes — setting or changing a password, changing your email address, deleting your account — require you to re-authenticate first.
Tell us promptly at support@dudamatchmaker.com if you believe someone else has access to your account.
4. Verification, and what it does not mean
DUDA offers face verification. You complete a short liveness check on camera. The result is a badge on your profile.
Read this part carefully. Verification checks that there is a live human present who matches your profile photos. It is not an identity-document check, not a criminal-record, sex-offender or background check, and not a check of anything a person says about themselves — their name, age, job, relationship status, intentions or anything else.
A verified badge means “this looks like a real, present person who matches these photos”. It is not a safety guarantee. We do not vet users, and we do not confirm that anyone is who or what they claim to be. Other users’ profiles, photos, plans, and messages are not verified or endorsed by DUDA.
Verification is optional. The biometric processing needs your explicit consent; you can withdraw it. See the Privacy Policy for what is processed and for how long.
You can use DUDA without verifying. Your profile is shown to other people either way. A verified badge tells them whether you have completed the check. You need to complete face verification before you can send a Move in Nearby (including a Move to join a Plan), accept or move back a Move you received, join a Plan, say hi to someone in Nearby, propose a date, or accept a date. You do not need it to browse the map, post a Plan, start an “I’m here” session, ignore a Move, leave a Plan, reply to a join request, or decline or cancel a date. If our automated check declines you, you can ask a person to review it in the app; they can verify you manually.
5. Meeting people — your safety
DUDA introduces people. What happens after that is between you and them, in the physical world, where we are not present and have no control. You are responsible for your own interactions, meetings, travel, and decisions. Meeting someone from DUDA is at your own risk.
- Meet in public first, tell someone where you are going, arrange your own transport, and leave if you are uncomfortable.
- Never send money to someone you met here, however convincing the reason.
- We do not screen, interview, or run background checks on users.
If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first. Report the account to us afterwards so we can act on it.
6. Nearby, Plans, Moves, Sync, and chat
Nearby
Nearby is optional. While you have it switched on, people around the same place can see you on the map at an approximate spot and the place you are at. They never see your exact position. Your “I’m here” pin shows your photo and first name only if you have completed face verification. A session lasts two hours unless you extend it, and it cannot run longer than six hours in total. You can switch Nearby off at any time, and it ends on its own when the time is up.
Plans
A Plan is a place and a time you post. You choose who can see each one: Everyone, your Connections, or only you. An Everyone plan can be seen by people outside your usual preferences. A plan can appear on the map for the audience you chose, including when you do not have a live Nearby session. Your photo appears on a plan only if you switch that on. People who can see a plan see its venue. If you share a group plan’s link, any signed-in DUDA user who receives the link can see the plan, whatever audience you chose.
Moves
A Move is an invitation to meet someone you can see in Nearby. Sending one, or accepting one, is your decision. You need to complete face verification before you can send a Move, or accept or move back one you received; ignoring a Move does not need it (section 4). DUDA delivers the invitation. It does not attend the meeting.
Sync
Your Sync link is a personal link and QR code. Anyone you share it with can use it to connect with you on DUDA, and anyone with the link, including someone who does not have an account, can open the preview. You can revoke the link at any time from the Sync tab, and older duda.chat/s/ links stop working straight away. Links of the form duda.chat/your-handle are not available yet.
Chat
Once you both connect — through a daily match, a Move or a Sync link — the conversation appears in Chat. Nobody at DUDA reads your conversations, except when one of you reports a conversation and a person reviews what was reported. Before a message is sent, it is checked automatically against a list of disallowed words, and refused if it matches. Every image you send is checked automatically before the other person can see it (section 11). No person reads your messages for these checks.
If you upload contacts so we can tell you who is already here, upload only contacts you are entitled to share. We compare hashed phone numbers and do not store your contact list.
Connected apps are not available yet. When they are, they are also governed by those providers’ own terms. If you connect YouTube, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s use of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Disconnecting YouTube or Google Calendar removes DUDA’s access in your Google account and, because both use the same Google permission, disconnects both.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you put on DUDA — your photos (up to six, 10 MB each), your bio, your questionnaire answers, your messages.
To run the service, you give us permission to store, reproduce, adapt and display that content for the purpose of operating DUDA for you: showing your profile to people you may match with, sizing and re-encoding your photos so they load, backing them up, and moderating them. That permission does not let us sell your content, license it to third parties, or use it in advertising.
Delete a photo and it disappears from DUDA straight away, and we then delete the stored file (retrying if the first attempt fails). A copy that has already loaded on someone’s device, or in our delivery network, can remain viewable for up to 24 hours.
You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload photos of other people who have not agreed to appear on a dating profile, and do not upload anything you do not hold the rights to.
8. What you may not do
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not harass, impersonate, scam or post explicit content. We review every report within 24 hours, and we remove content that breaks these rules and the accounts of the people who post it (section 11).
Do not use DUDA to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, defame or abuse anyone;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age, identity or intentions;
- post sexual content involving minors, or anything sexualising a minor. We remove it, close the account permanently, keep what the law requires us to keep, and report it where the law requires;
- post nude or sexually explicit images;
- post content that is illegal in the United Kingdom or in the country where you live;
- post non-consensual intimate images, or share private information about someone without their consent;
- solicit money, advertise, recruit, run a scam, or promote a business;
- solicit or advertise commercial sexual services;
- post content that is unlawful, hateful, or incites violence against people on the basis of who they are;
- scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise systematically extract profiles or photos;
- probe, attack or interfere with the service, its infrastructure, or other users’ accounts;
- use automated tools to create accounts, send messages, or manufacture activity;
- evade a block, a suspension or a removal.
9. How matches are chosen
Your matches are selected automatically. We compute a compatibility score from your questionnaire answers, your stated preferences, your profile and how you interact with the app, and we use it to decide who to show you and in what order. Some of your preferences act as hard filters when you choose to make them binding.
Your religion or beliefs answers. When you sign up, you tick a box that says “I am 18 or older, I’m OK with DUDA using who I’m looking for to match me, and I agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy”. Ticking it also gives your explicit consent to DUDA using any answers you choose to give to the questionnaire’s questions about your religious or philosophical beliefs, to work out your compatibility with other people. Those questions are optional: you can skip them and still use all of DUDA. Your answers are never shown to other people; a match may see a compatibility rating for that area. They are processed under contract by our AI provider, OpenAI, in the United States. You can withdraw this consent at any time in Settings → Privacy & data, which deletes those answers. If you signed up before 27 October 2026, or you have withdrawn this consent, we do not assume it: the app asks you for it separately the first time a religion question comes up.
Matching suggests people; it does not decide for you. The Privacy Policy explains which of our decisions are automated and how to ask for a person to review them.
New matches arrive in Explore once a day. Until your profile basics are complete, including your date of birth, who you are interested in, your age range, your city and at least two photos, the drop can stay empty. We do not promise any number or quality of matches, that anyone will reply, or that an introduction will lead anywhere.
10. Pausing and ending your account
You can pause your profile from Settings → Preferences. Pausing hides you from matching, from Nearby and from other people’s chats until you switch it back on. Nobody can message you while you are paused, and nothing is deleted. Pausing is not the same as deleting.
You can delete your account at any time from within the app, and deletion is immediate and irreversible. Open Settings and tap Delete Account at the bottom of the page. There is no grace period and no self-service restore. Signing in again afterwards will not bring the account back.
Some records survive, for reasons we can justify: security and audit logs we keep to protect the service and investigate abuse, reports made about an account (which survive its deletion), and records we must keep by law. The Privacy Policy sets out what and for how long.
We may restrict, hide, suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we reasonably believe you put other users at risk, or if the law requires it. Section 11 explains how we decide, how we tell you why, and how to challenge it. If we close an account for any other reason, we give at least 30 days’ notice and time to export your data.
11. Reporting, blocking and moderation
Blocking is mutual and immediate: once either of you blocks the other, neither is shown to the other again and you cannot message each other.
Reporting. You can report a profile, a Move, a Plan or a venue in the app. Anyone — with or without a DUDA account — can report content they believe is illegal to support@dudamatchmaker.com. Tell us where it is, why you believe it is illegal, your name and email (not needed for reports of child sexual abuse material), and confirm you believe your report is accurate. We confirm receipt and tell you what we decided. When you report someone, they disappear from your matches straight away, and permanently if we act on the report.
How we moderate. Automated: if three or more different people report the same account within seven days, we hide that account from other people automatically, before any person has reviewed the reports. A person then reviews it within 24 hours and either suspends the account or lifts the hide. Every profile photo, chat image and plan cover is checked automatically by an image-safety system (Amazon Rekognition, running in our own Amazon Web Services account) before anyone else can see it; for a video cover, it checks the first frame and one frame for every second. It refuses sexually explicit and nude images: the labels it refuses are Explicit, Non-Explicit Nudity and Obstructed Intimate Parts. The account that uploaded a refused image is suspended until a person reviews it, within 24 hours, and we send that account a statement of reasons. Chat messages, and the profile text other people see, are checked automatically against a list of disallowed words before they are sent or saved, and refused if they match. Nobody at DUDA reads them for this check. Human: a person reviews every other report within 24 hours. When content breaks section 8, we remove it and suspend or permanently close the account of the person who posted it. Depending on what we find, we may also restrict features or hide an account. Where there is a threat to someone’s life or safety, or the law requires it, we inform the authorities. We apply these rules carefully, objectively and proportionately, with regard to everyone’s rights, including freedom of expression, privacy and non-discrimination.
We tell you why. If we remove your content or restrict, hide, suspend or close your account, we tell you when it takes effect: what we did, the facts, the rule in these Terms or the law we relied on, whether automated means were involved, and how to challenge it.
Challenging a decision. You can challenge a moderation decision about you, or complain about how we handled your report, within six months: Settings → Help → Contact support (available even while you are hidden or suspended), or support@dudamatchmaker.com. A person reviews it and replies within 14 days, and we reverse decisions we got wrong without delay. You can also go to court (section 14).
We do not review everything and cannot promise to catch everything.
12. Cost
DUDA is currently free. There are no paid features, subscriptions or in-app purchases. If that changes, we will say so before charging you anything, and the terms of any paid feature will be presented at the point you choose to buy it.
13. Availability, and our responsibility to you
13.1 What we provide
We provide DUDA with reasonable care and skill. We cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we sometimes need to take it offline for maintenance or security. We keep that short and, for planned work, tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
13.2 Changing the service
We change, add or remove features only for a valid reason: to comply with the law or a regulator; to protect users’ safety or the security of the service; to fix technical problems or replace a supplier; or to improve DUDA. If a change will materially reduce what DUDA does for you, we tell you at least 30 days before (unless safety, security or the law requires faster action), and you may end this agreement by deleting your account, at no cost.
13.3 Closing DUDA
If we decide to close DUDA, we give you at least 30 days’ notice and you can export your data from Settings before it closes.
13.4 Other people
DUDA introduces you to people we do not know, and we do not check what they say about themselves (sections 4 and 5). What another user says or does, online or in person, is their responsibility. This does not reduce our responsibility where our own breach of these Terms, or our failure to take reasonable care (for example, in how we handle a report you make), caused or contributed to the harm.
13.5 Matches
We do not promise any number or quality of matches, that anyone will reply, or that an introduction will lead anywhere (section 9).
13.6 What we are responsible for
If we break these Terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if both of us knew it might happen when you accepted these Terms. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. DUDA is for personal use, so we are not responsible for loss of business, profit or business opportunity.
13.7 What we never exclude
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence or that of our staff, agents or subcontractors; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence; or (d) anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
13.8 As is, and limits on liability
This section applies subject to sections 13.1, 13.4, 13.6 and 13.7, which prevail where they conflict with it. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, DUDA is provided as is, without warranties of availability, matches, safety, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for other users’ conduct, or for offline meetings. This limit does not remove anything section 13.7 says we do not exclude, and it does not waive a duty the law does not allow these Terms to waive.
14. Governing law and disputes
14.1 Talk to us first (optional)
If something goes wrong, contact support@dudamatchmaker.com or Settings → Help. We reply within 14 days. This does not affect your right to go to court or to a regulator.
14.2 Which law applies
If you are a consumer living in the United Kingdom or the European Union, these Terms are governed by the law of the country (in the UK, the part of the UK) where you live.
14.3 Where claims are heard
If you live in the EU, you can bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, or in the courts of Georgia. If you live in the UK, you can bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live (England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland), or in the courts of Georgia. If we bring proceedings against you, we do so only in the courts of the country (or part of the UK) where you live.
14.4 Other routes
You can complain to your national consumer authority or, about your personal data, to your data protection authority (Privacy Policy, section 9). We are not currently required to take part in out-of-court dispute settlement under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act, and we are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme. We will update this section if that changes.
14.5 If part of these Terms is invalid
If a court decides any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. If a change is material — it affects your rights, what you are agreeing to, or how the service works for you — we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, in the app and by email to the address on your account. Continuing to use DUDA after that date means you accept the new Terms; if you do not, you can delete your account before it takes effect, and the old Terms apply until then.
Changes that only correct errors, or that are required by law, may take effect sooner, and we will still tell you.
We keep every published version of these Terms at this address, with its date. Version tos-2026-10-24, in force from 24 October 2026, version tos-2026-10-19, in force from 19 October 2026, version tos-2026-10-18, in force from 18 October 2026, version tos-2026-10-13, in force from 13 October 2026, and version tos-2026-09-11, in force from 11 September 2026, stay published here. When you sign up we record which version you accepted and when.
