Terms of Use

In force from 11 September 2026 · Version tos-2026-09-11

These Terms govern your use of the DUDA app and the services behind it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal data. It is a separate notice, not part of this agreement.

1. Who we are, and what DUDA is

DUDA is a matchmaking app. It suggests people it computes as compatible with you, and helps you decide who to meet.

These Terms are offered in English. DUDA launches first in the United Kingdom and the European Union.

2. Who may use DUDA

You must be 18 or older. You attest to this when you sign up, and we store that attestation. When you later give your date of birth, we recompute your age and reject the profile if you are under 18. If that date of birth contradicts an attestation you already made, we record a security audit event before rejecting.

You also confirm that you are legally permitted to use a dating service where you live, that you are using DUDA for yourself, and that you have not previously been removed from DUDA for breaking these Terms.

One person, one account. Do not share yours, and do not create a second one to evade a block, a suspension or a removal.

3. Your account

You can sign in with an email address and password, or with Apple, Google or Facebook. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for what happens under your account.

Some changes — setting or changing a password, changing your email address, deleting your account — require you to re-authenticate first.

Tell us promptly at support@dudamatchmaker.com if you believe someone else has access to your account.

4. Verification, and what it does not mean

DUDA offers face verification. You complete a short liveness check on camera. The result is a badge on your profile.

Read this part carefully. Verification checks that there is a live human present who matches your profile photos. It is not an identity-document check, not a criminal-record, sex-offender or background check, and not a check of anything a person says about themselves — their name, age, job, relationship status, intentions or anything else.

A verified badge means “this looks like a real, present person who matches these photos”. It is not a safety guarantee. We do not vet users, and we do not confirm that anyone is who or what they claim to be.

Verification is optional. The biometric processing needs your explicit consent; you can withdraw it. See the Privacy Policy for what is processed and for how long.

You can use DUDA without verifying. Your profile is shown to other people either way. A verified badge tells them whether you have completed the check. Verification is required to send or accept a Move in Nearby. Proposing a date or posting a Plan does not require it. If our automated check declines you, you can ask a person to review it in the app; they can verify you manually.

5. Meeting people — your safety

DUDA introduces people. What happens after that is between you and them, in the physical world, where we are not present and have no control.

If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first. Report the account to us afterwards so we can act on it.

6. Nearby, Plans, your Sync link, and connected apps

Nearby shows you, while you have it on, to people around the same place. We store your location rounded to about 110 metres, never your exact position. A session ends after at most two hours.

Plans you post are visible to people who can see you on Nearby. Your photo appears on a plan only if you switch that on.

Your Sync link is public: anyone with it, including people who do not have a DUDA account, can open the preview. You can revoke the link at any time.

If you upload contacts so we can tell you who is already here, upload only contacts you are entitled to share. We compare hashed phone numbers and do not store your contact list.

Connected apps are also governed by those providers’ own terms. If you connect YouTube, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s use of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Disconnecting YouTube or Google Calendar removes DUDA’s access in your Google account and, because both use the same Google permission, disconnects both.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you put on DUDA — your photos (up to six, 10 MB each), your bio, your questionnaire answers, your messages.

To run the service, you give us permission to store, reproduce, adapt and display that content for the purpose of operating DUDA for you: showing your profile to people you may match with, sizing and re-encoding your photos so they load, backing them up, and moderating them. That permission does not let us sell your content, license it to third parties, or use it in advertising.

Delete a photo and it disappears from DUDA straight away, and we then delete the stored file (retrying if the first attempt fails). A copy that has already loaded on someone’s device, or in our delivery network, can remain viewable for up to 24 hours.

You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. Do not upload photos of other people who have not agreed to appear on a dating profile, and do not upload anything you do not hold the rights to.

8. What you may not do

Do not use DUDA to:

9. How matches are chosen

Your matches are selected automatically. We compute a compatibility score from your questionnaire answers, your stated preferences, your profile and how you interact with the app, and we use it to decide who to show you and in what order. Some of your preferences act as hard filters when you choose to make them binding.

Matching suggests people; it does not decide for you. The Privacy Policy explains which of our decisions are automated and how to ask for a person to review them.

We do not promise any number or quality of matches, that anyone will reply, or that an introduction will lead anywhere.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app, and deletion is immediate and irreversible. There is no grace period and no self-service restore. Signing in again afterwards will not bring the account back.

Some records survive, for reasons we can justify: security and audit logs we keep to protect the service and investigate abuse, reports made about an account (which survive its deletion), and records we must keep by law. The Privacy Policy sets out what and for how long.

We may restrict, hide, suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we reasonably believe you put other users at risk, or if the law requires it. Section 11 explains how we decide, how we tell you why, and how to challenge it. If we close an account for any other reason, we give at least 30 days’ notice and time to export your data.

11. Reporting, blocking and moderation

Blocking is mutual and immediate: once either of you blocks the other, neither is shown to the other again and you cannot message each other.

Reporting. You can report a profile, a Move, a Plan or a venue in the app. Anyone — with or without a DUDA account — can report content they believe is illegal to support@dudamatchmaker.com. Tell us where it is, why you believe it is illegal, your name and email (not needed for reports of child sexual abuse material), and confirm you believe your report is accurate. We confirm receipt and tell you what we decided. When you report someone, they disappear from your matches straight away, and permanently if we act on the report.

How we moderate. Automated: if three or more different people report the same account within seven days, we hide that account from other people automatically, before any person has reviewed the reports. A person then reviews it within 72 hours and either suspends the account or lifts the hide. Image scanning for illegal material is not switched on today; if that changes we will say so here. Human: every other report is reviewed by a person. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, restrict features, hide or suspend an account, or close it permanently. Where there is a threat to someone’s life or safety, or the law requires it, we inform the authorities. We apply these rules carefully, objectively and proportionately, with regard to everyone’s rights, including freedom of expression, privacy and non-discrimination.

We tell you why. If we remove your content or restrict, hide, suspend or close your account, we tell you when it takes effect: what we did, the facts, the rule in these Terms or the law we relied on, whether automated means were involved, and how to challenge it.

Challenging a decision. You can challenge a moderation decision about you, or complain about how we handled your report, within six months: Settings → Help → Contact support (available even while you are hidden or suspended), or support@dudamatchmaker.com. A person reviews it and replies within 14 days, and we reverse decisions we got wrong without delay. You can also go to court (section 13).

We do not review everything and cannot promise to catch everything.

12. Cost

DUDA is currently free. There are no paid features, subscriptions or in-app purchases. If that changes, we will say so before charging you anything, and the terms of any paid feature will be presented at the point you choose to buy it.

13. Availability, and our responsibility to you

13.1 What we provide

We provide DUDA with reasonable care and skill. We cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors, and we sometimes need to take it offline for maintenance or security. We keep that short and, for planned work, tell you in advance where we reasonably can.

13.2 Changing the service

We change, add or remove features only for a valid reason: to comply with the law or a regulator; to protect users’ safety or the security of the service; to fix technical problems or replace a supplier; or to improve DUDA. If a change will materially reduce what DUDA does for you, we tell you at least 30 days before (unless safety, security or the law requires faster action), and you may end this agreement by deleting your account, at no cost.

13.3 Closing DUDA

If we decide to close DUDA, we give you at least 30 days’ notice and you can export your data from Settings before it closes.

13.4 Other people

DUDA introduces you to people we do not know, and we do not check what they say about themselves (sections 4 and 5). What another user says or does, online or in person, is their responsibility. This does not reduce our responsibility where our own breach of these Terms, or our failure to take reasonable care (for example, in how we handle a report you make), caused or contributed to the harm.

13.5 Matches

We do not promise any number or quality of matches, that anyone will reply, or that an introduction will lead anywhere (section 9).

13.6 What we are responsible for

If we break these Terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if both of us knew it might happen when you accepted these Terms. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. DUDA is for personal use, so we are not responsible for loss of business, profit or business opportunity.

13.7 What we never exclude

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence or that of our staff, agents or subcontractors; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence; or (d) anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

14. Governing law and disputes

14.1 Talk to us first (optional)

If something goes wrong, contact support@dudamatchmaker.com or Settings → Help. We reply within 14 days. This does not affect your right to go to court or to a regulator.

14.2 Which law applies

If you are a consumer living in the United Kingdom or the European Union, these Terms are governed by the law of the country (in the UK, the part of the UK) where you live.

14.3 Where claims are heard

If you live in the EU, you can bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, or in the courts of Georgia. If you live in the UK, you can bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK where you live (England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland), or in the courts of Georgia. If we bring proceedings against you, we do so only in the courts of the country (or part of the UK) where you live.

14.4 Other routes

You can complain to your national consumer authority or, about your personal data, to your data protection authority (Privacy Policy, section 9). We are not currently required to take part in out-of-court dispute settlement under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act, and we are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme. We will update this section if that changes.

14.5 If part of these Terms is invalid

If a court decides any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. If a change is material — it affects your rights, what you are agreeing to, or how the service works for you — we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, in the app and by email to the address on your account. Continuing to use DUDA after that date means you accept the new Terms; if you do not, you can delete your account before it takes effect, and the old Terms apply until then.

Changes that only correct errors, or that are required by law, may take effect sooner, and we will still tell you.

We keep every published version of these Terms at this address, with its date. When you sign up we record which version you accepted and when.

16. Contact

We have appointed Prighter Group as our privacy representative in the EU and the UK (see the Privacy Policy). A Digital Services Act legal representative in a Member State has not yet been appointed; we will name one here when that appointment is in force.
